Best picture and smart TV for the price
No TV we've ever tested offers this much picture for this little cash, and its Roku TV operating system is our hands-down favorite. We can't declare it the value champion until we test a few more sets, but for now it rules the roost.

Best high-end TV for the money
OLED TVs are the picture quality kings, and this is our top pick. Yes it's a 2017 model, but the C7 is almost as good as the C8 below, and costs a lot less.

Vizio M-Series (2018)
Second-best picture for the money
Aside from the TCL above, no TV offers this much picture for this little cash. Vizio's affordable M is high-performance and well-equipped, and if you want a 70-inch size (which TCL doesn't offer), it's the best value this list.

Sony XBR-X900E series
Midpriced runner-up with great style
Those Vizio and TCL TVs might be great deals with awesome image quality, but they can't hold a candle to this Sony for pure panache. And yes its image quality is just as excellent as those others, and the price is entirely reasonable.

Best and brightest non-OLED picture
With searing light output and superb local dimming performance, the Samsung Q8F delivers awesome image quality in light and dark rooms alike, as well as potent HDR. And for videophiles afraid of OLED burn-in, it's a great choice.

TCL S405 series Roku TV (2017)
Best built-in smart TV system
Roku is our favorite platform for streaming apps like Netflix, and it's even better baked into the TV. Image quality on this 4K TCL won't blow you away, but it's perfectly fine for most, especially at this price.
